LASA (Lamoille Area Skating Academy) is gearing up for the summer 2007 season. A registered USFSA skating club, LASA offers lessons in Snowplow Sam through Basic 8 for boys and girls of all ages. Our coaches focus on the skills but also make sure that skating stays fun for the kids.

Last year we had a number of LASA members go to competitions around New England and do quite well. Congratulations to the skaters on a great season!

We are excite dto have Trina back as our skating director this year. Trina will be coaching numerous lessons for youth and adults this year. In addition to group lessons, she will be offering private and semi-private lessons as well as summer camps.

Skating lessons will start again in July. They will run Friday evenings from 6:00 - 7:30 pm and Saturday mornings from 9:00 - 10:00 am. Registration forms are available now.

Lessons that LASA offers include:

Mom / Dad and Me

  • For the 3-5 year old who is a bit hesitant trying out lessons on their own
  • Parents will learn with their child in a comfortable environment

Snowplow Sam

  • Geared towards the beginner skaters ages 3 - 5
  • This class will walk your child through his or her first steps on skates into beginning stroking and stopping

Basic 1 - 8

  • Designed for skaters 6 and up to learn the basic fundamentals of skating

Adult 1 - 2

  • Designed for adult skaters who have never skated or are just beginning

Adult 3 - 4

  • Designed for adults who are a bit rusty on their skating skills and want to get back into it

Homeschool Classes Basic 1 - 2

  • Geared towards skaters 6 and older who have never skated or are just beginning
  • This class is offered during the traditional school day for those with flexible schedules

Homeschool Classes Basic 3 - 4

  • Geared towards skaters 6 and older who have had some skating experience but want the instruction
  • This class is offered during the traditional school day for those with flexible schedules

LASA is joining up with LAHA (Lamoille Area Hockey Association) to bring young children Basic Hockey Skills 1-4. This program is a pre-requisite for skaters wanting to play hockey but who need the basic skills of skating first. We will integrate this program into each session in order to enable children to start playing hockey each winter.
